As September is just around the corner, the preparations for one of our biggest events of the year is now under way. On September 15th 2014, Lara Media Services in collaboration with Mandos Mundo Entertainment will be hosting their annual “EL GRITO” event! This wonderful festivity is the celebration of the Independence of several Latin American countries including Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, with the main focus and celebration being Mexico’s Independence day on September 16th.

The question many people ask is, what is El Grito and what does it stand for? El Grito, which in English literally means “The Cry” is commemorated for the time in 1810 when priest Miguel Hidalgo cried out to his parish in the small town of Dolores. He cried out against Spanish colonial rule, for Mexicans to rise up and take charge of their country and their destiny. His grito eventually rallied tens of thousands of people to fight and change Mexico forever. By September 16, 1810 Mexico had gained their independence from Spain.

Fast forwarding 201 years later, the person in charge of “El Grito de Dolores” is now the President of Mexico. He stands in one of the windows of the National Palace in Mexico City, where he keeps the mexican tradition alive and cries out to the Mexican people:

¡Mexicanos! –Mexicans!

¡Vivan los héroes que nos dieron patria! –Long live the heroes that gave us our country!

¡Víva Hidalgo! – Long live Hidalgo!

¡Viva Morelos! – Long Live Morelos!

¡Viva Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez! -Long Live Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez!

¡Viva Allende! – Long Live Allende!

¡Vivan Aldama y Matamoros! Long live Aldama!

¡Viva la independencia nacional! – Long live the National Independence!

¡Viva México! ¡Viva México! ¡Viva México! – Long live Mexico! Long live Mexico! Long Live Mexico!

We are very excited and pleased to be putting on such an outstanding event that celebrates the Mexican culture and its people. Join us on September 15, 2014 at Pioneer Square for the fun and excitement! You won’t be disappointed! For more information visit: http://elgritonw.com/
